The standard Mysore Palace lighting time is from 19:00 to 19:45, and it takes place every evening, including Sundays and public holidays. The sight of the palace lit up is truly magical, with its towering spires, ornate windows, and vast courtyards glowing in the night.

Amba Vilas is a palace in the centre of the city of Mysuru in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. It was the residence of the Maharajas of the former princely state of Mysore, whose descendants still live in part of the palace today. The palace is one of the most famous palace buildings in all of India.

During winter months, starting from mid-December, as many as 40,000 birds congregate at Ranganathittu, some migrating from Siberia, Latin America and parts of north India. During January and February, more than 30 species of migratory birds can be found in the sanctuary. The mugger crocodile or marsh crocodile is a common inhabitant of the riverine reed beds and Ranganathittu has largest fresh water crocodile population in Karnataka state.

The factory was founded in 1912 by Sri Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodiyar, the Maharaja of Mysore. Initially, the silk fabrics were manufactured & supplied to meet the requirements of the royal family and ornamental fabrics for their armed forces. After India gained independence, the Mysore State Sericulture Department took control of the silk weaving factory, and it was handed over to government-owned Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Limited (KSIC) in 1980.
Karnataka produces 9,000 metric tons of mulberry silk out of a total of 20,000 metric tons of mulberry silk produced in the country, thus contributing to nearly 45% of the country's total mulberry silk. Since the saree zari contains 65% pure silver and 0.65% gold, it is also one of the most expensive silk sarees in India.

The Avadhoota datta peetham is a beautiful ashram complex of Sri Ganapthi Sachchidananda swamy. The complex is huge and has 5 major attractions - Shukavana which is a bird aviary, beautiful Bonsai Garden which is in the Guiness book of world records for its collection of bonsai plants from all over the world, Karyasiddhi Anjaneya temple with huge idol of Lord Hanuman, Sri Datta Venkateshwata Swamy Temple and a Museum.
The Mysore city market was constructed in 1886. One can buy flowers, fruits, and choose from conical piles of colorful Kumkum powder.

Bylakuppe is the largest Tibetan settlement in the world outside Tibet. In 1960, the Government of Mysore (as Karnataka was called at that time) allotted nearly 3,000 acres (12 km2) of land at Bylakuppe in Mysore district in Karnataka and the first ever Tibetan exile settlement, Lugsung Samdupling came into existence in 1961. Today, an estimated 70,000 Tibetans live in the settlements.
Dubare is known for its elephant camp, a forest camp on the banks of the river Kaveri in the district of Kodagu, Karnataka. It is an important base for the Karnataka Forest Department's elephants.

Shiva had granted a wish to Mahishasura not to die at the hands of a man. Heavens and the world beyond were shaken with Mahishasura's army of demons. Supreme gods approached Paravati, Shiva's wife who assumed the form of Durga or Chamundi a goddess powerful enough to rid the world of Mahishasura and his evil forces.
Goddess Durga slayed the demon king Mahishasura on the top of this hill which was ruled by him.
